Hue Nam Temple festival draws thousands of visitors
PSNews - The Hue Nam Temple (also known as Hon Chen Temple) festival was jointly held on on August 8 by the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Hue Festival Centre and the Hue Nam Temple conservation board.
Hue Nam Temple (Hon Chen Temple) festival in July (Lunar calendar) has officially commenced on the morning of August 5 at Thien Tien Thanh Giao Holy Palace (352 Chi Lang, Hue City) with ceremonies preceding the procession of the Mother Goddess by waterway upstream the Huong River to Hue Nam Temple.
After the entreating ritual, the procession with about 70 single and double dragon boats proceeded to Hue Nam Temple at the upstream of the Huong River in Huong Tho Commune (Hue City).
A procession was re-enacted after 51 years, creating a highlight for the festival. It showcased colorful ancient costumes and performances, which are unique traits of the ritual worship of the Mother Goddesses.
The traditional Hue Nam Temple festival, held annually in the third the seventh month of the lunar year, attracts thousands of visitors. It is dedicated to Thien Y A Na (Lady Po Nagar), the holy mother of the Cham ethnic community in the south central region.
This festival represents a typical cultural event in the Autumn Festival of Hue Festival 2022.
