Quang Nam plans to welcome foreign tourists
The authority of Quang Nam province on October 6 made a proposal to the Prime Minister to allow the province to welcome foreign tourists.
According to a report submitted to the PM by the authority of Quang Nam, the province has controlled the COVID-19 epidemic and has experience in serving Vietnamese tourists from other countries while accommodation facilities and transportation agencies provide good services for visitors during the pandemic.
In general, Quang Nam province has made good preparations for receiving foreign tourists in the near future, according to the report.
In order to gradually recover local tourism and service industry, contributing, the People's Committee Quang Nam province has asked the PM to permit the province to welcome international tourists. If the proposal is accepted, the province will become the second locality to receive international visitors after Phu Quoc (Kien Giang).
The province will have to coordinate with relevant ministries, Central branches and services companies to develop plans to welcome tourist in line with anti- COVID-19 regulations.
Over the past 9 months, the number of tourist to Quang Nam has declined by half while the province’s tourism revenue has dropped more than 67% compared with the same period last year.
By October 6, Quang Nam recorded no COVID-19 infection for 14 consecutive days. The province has recorded 684 COVID cases since July 18, including 32 community cases, 424 secondary infections detected in quarantine areas, 160 cases coming from other provinces and 68 imported cases.
