Quang Nam promotes tourism with green criteria in new normal
PSNews - Recently, the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee has issued a set of green tourism criteria in order to promote tourism products and services throughout the locality.
According to the authorities, there are six sets of green tourism criteria for hotels, homestays, resorts, travel businesses, and community-based tourist attractions. The green tourism criteria have been divided into major sustainability themes, each of which features several specific indicators.
Sustainability themes include general environmental management, power management, water management, wastewater management, solid waste management, air quality, and management over sustainable tourism products.
Designed with the support of the Swiss Sustainable Tourism Program (SSTP), the criteria give reference to 25 sets of sustainable tourism criteria applied internationally. They have been adjusted in order suit the conditions of a number of small and medium tourism firms, along with the actual conditions locally.
Located in central Vietnam, Quang Nam is home to Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary, both of which have been recognised as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
The province welcomed back its first group of international tourists with a vaccine passport on November 19 after roughly two years of closure due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
