Traditional instrument solo and orchestra contest held
The 2023 National Traditional Musical Instrument Solo and Orchestra Competition kicked off in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, on June 10, attracting the participation of nearly 1,000 artists from 38 art troupes across the country.

The contestants will compete in one of two categories, solo or orchestra, with each performance lasting from 20 to 35 minutes.
The contest is held jointly by the Department of Performing Arts, the Vietnam Musicians' Association, and the Khanh Hoa and Hoa Binh provincial Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It is taking place from June 10-14 in Khanh Hoa Province and from June 20 to 26 in Hoa Binh Province.
In his opening remark, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong stressed that the competition provides an opportunity for traditional musical instrumentalists from art troupes, lecturers, and students from art training establishments to show their talents and share their experience with each other.
According to organizers, the judges include talented musicians, artists, art researchers and managers who have made contributions to the development of performing arts, especially regarding traditional music instruments.
The event aims to honour, preserve and promote the value of music and traditional instruments, thus contributing to enriching Vietnamese culture. The competition also offers a chance for participants to meet and learn from others’ experience.
