UN photo exhibition highlights Vietnam’s human rights achievements
PSNews - A photo exhibition themed “Vietnam – Identity, Humanity and Integration” was launched on June 30 in Geneva, Switzerland, by the Permanent Office of the Vietnamese Government's Steering Committee for Human Rights and the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN).
The exhibition features vibrant artistic photographs that invite viewers to explore the depth of Vietnamese culture and nature. It showcases the majestic beauty of Ha Long Bay and the terraced rice fields of the Northwest, alongside heritage sites like Hoi An Ancient Town and Cham Towers. The photos reflect a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, as well as the cultural diversity of Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups through their traditional attire, daily life, and unique festivals.
The photographs on display highlight the beauty of Vietnamese culture while vividly portraying the country's efforts in ensuring fundamental human rights. Images of religious festivals and spiritual rituals affirm Vietnam's commitment to protecting freedom of belief and religion. Photographs showcasing remarkable achievements in access to education, healthcare, and social equality—results of the Party and State's policies and international cooperation, have garnered significant appreciation from international delegates.
Speaking at the exhibition, Ambassador Mai Phan Dung, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam in Geneva, emphasized that the exhibition serves as a prime example not only of the beauty of Vietnam's landscapes and people but also of contemporary cultural characteristics. These range from the diversity and richness of customs and practices in the daily lives of ethnic groups, the respect for and preservation of traditional values expressed through tangible and intangible historical heritage, to the aspiration to embrace noble humanitarian values in the process of national integration and development.
Each photograph is an authentic moment, a story of a Vietnam on its development journey, steadfastly preserving its unique cultural identity, nurturing a humanitarian spirit in all aspects of life, and actively and proactively integrating into the global flow.
"As we contemplate the images in this exhibition, let us reflect together on the broader significance of Vietnam's contributions to the Human Rights Council. Our participation is not merely symbolic; it is a substantive commitment to the shared values that bind us in our collective endeavor to build a world where human rights are universally respected," Ambassador Mai Phan Dung underscored.
As an active and responsible member of the UN, Vietnam continuously improves its legal framework and implements policies prioritizing women, children, people with disabilities, and ethnic minorities through free education, comprehensive healthcare, and economic development in remote areas.
The exhibition has received widespread praise from diplomats and visitors alike. It is not just an art exhibition but also conveys Vietnam's powerful message about sustainable development and global responsibility.
