Vietnam Film Festival 2021 kicks off in Hue city
PSNews - The 22nd Vietnam National Film Festival kicked off both offline and online in Hue city in the central province of on November 18.
With the theme “Building a Vietnamese film industry rich in national identity, modern and humane”, the event features 128 films from 42 units, including 26 motion pictures, 56 documentaries, 15 scientific films, and 31 animated films.
All of the movies on show will be screened across four cinema theaters in the central city and through the digital platform of VTVGo.
In his address, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said that despite the Vietnamese film industry suffering the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the participation of these movies has demonstrated the great efforts of Vietnamese film makers to maintain production activities.
Along with honouring the country's film industry, the festival will serve as a bridge bringing new films to the public via digital platforms, Deputy Minister Dong said.
The 22nd festival will present two new awards, one for a feature film with the best cinematography and the other for outstanding debut by a director.
The awards ceremony is set to be held at 8 p.m. on November 20 at the Song Huong Theatre and broadcast live on Vietnam National Television.
Additionally, a number of side line events will be organised both in virtual and in-person forms. An exhibition themed “Thua Thien-Hue - Destination of Film Makers”, and an online exchange programme with artists will be held. A film week was held both in the capital city of Hanoi and the central city of Da Nang between November 10-16.
