Vietnam wins big at 2022 World Travel Awards
Vietnamese destinations were named among the winners at the award ceremony of the World Travel Awards 2022 - Region: Asia & Oceania, which took place in Ho Chi Minh City on September 7 evening.
Taking place at GEM Center in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, the ceremony saw the attendance of a large number of tourism businesses from countries in the region. Many Vietnamese destinations, airlines, hotels, and resorts were named among this year’s winners at the event.
Among them, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines won the titles of Asia's Leading Airline - Economy Class and Asia's Leading Airline Brand; while Vietravel Airlines was accredited as Asia's Leading New Airline.
The Ville De Mont Mountain Resort in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai’s Sa Pa town and Premier Village Ha Long Bay Resort in the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh were called onto the stage as Asia's Leading Lifestyle Resort and Asia's Leading Family Villa Resort 2022, respectively.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City was named Asia's Leading Business Travel Destination, while Hanoi was announced as Asia's Leading City Break Destination. Central Da Nang City received the Asia's Leading Festival & Event Destination award, and Hoi An City in neighboring Quang Nam Province was accredited as Asia's Leading Cultural City Destination.
Moc Chau Town in northern Son La Province was honored as Asia's Leading Regional Nature Destination.
The nominations and awards Vietnam received this year help create the momentum for the development of Vietnamese tourism and affirm the country’s position in the industry, said Phan Van Mai, chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.
Vietnam won 32 awards at the World Travel Award 2021 for Asia region including the title of Asia’s Leading Destination, Asia’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination, and Asia’s Leading Tourist Board.
World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Today, the World Travel Award brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence.
