11 houses damaged and roads blocked in Yen Bai floods

Heavy rains and floods have damaged at least 11 houses in Luc Yen district in the northern province of Yen Bai on August 7.

Four houses completely collapsed while five houses were seriously damaged. Two households in high-risk areas have been evacuated to safer places.

At present, temporary shelters have been set-up for residents whose houses have collapsed. Luc Yen district has also provided urgent financial support and food to people whose houses have been damaged.
Heavy downpours caused landslides on National Highway 70, which was blocked for several hours until relevant units were able to mobilize workers and vehicles to clear the rocks and debris. By 10am the route had been reopened to traffic.
