The 14 victims are Vietnamese citizens with permanent residences in Hanoi, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Binh Duong, and Kien Giang.

Previously, the victims were rescued and brought back to Vietnam by the Blue Dragon Children's Foundation (a non-government organization based in Hanoi), the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar, and relevant agencies of the country.

After returning to Vietnam, they were quarantined for COVID-19 prevention and control at the barracks of Regiment 247 under the Tuyen Quang Provincial Military Command.

After the event, competent units arranged vehicles to transport the victims to their home villages.

Speaking at the event, leaders of the Department of Foreign Relations and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs hoped that the victims, after returning to their localities, would strictly follow the laws and mobilize their relatives as well as  local residents to avoid being victims of human trafficking.
