18 localities close schools
The authorities of Thai Binh province ordered social distancing from noon of May 6, after 5 infection cases were detected. All the cases are related to the SARS-CoV-2 epicenter in the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases. Students in the province will attend online classes instead of going to school until further notice.
The central province of Quang Ngai has halted of in-person classes after recorded a COVID-19 case. Students in Thach Ha district and Ha Tinh city, Ha Tinh province, have also been banned from going to school after 2 people were found positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the area.
Kindergartens and primary schools in Tam Diep city, Ninh Binh province, have also been closed, and online classes are opened for students instead.
The Provincial People’s Committee of Bac Ninh also ordered all schools in the province to close until May 9 while the authorities in Lao Cai province asked the Education and Training Office of Sa Pa town to let their students stay home until May 9.
Other provinces and cities which have stopped in-person classes include Dong Nai (Long Khanh city and 6 communes of Xuan Loc district), Ha Nam, Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, Hanoi, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Yen Bai, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Lai Chau and Soc Trang.
