2,000 units of blood delivered to Ho Chi Minh City

The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion sent 2,000 units of blood to Ho Chi Minh City on August 25 to ease the local shortage of blood for emergency treatment.

The blood had been transported to Ho Chi Minh City Blood Transfusion and Hematology Hospital and Cho Ray Hospital.

The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion received 4,400 units of donated blood on August 25, a record high.

Over the past month, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion has sent 7,350 blood units to southern provinces and cities, including 5,000 units to Ho Chi Minh City and 2,350 units to Can Tho.

Two groups of 125 doctors and medical staff of the Institute have been sent to a 1,000-bed resuscitation hospital for severe and critical COVID-19 cases based in the Oncology Hospital 2, Thu Duc City.

In addition to the 2,000 blood units delivered to Ho Chi Minh City, another 2,400 blood units were also allocated to various provinces and cities, including Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan, Hai Duong, Ha Nam, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, and Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Phu Tho, Quang Ninh, Son La, Thai Nguyen and 28 hospitals in Hanoi.
