Bars closed and festivals postponed after COVID-19 cases reported in Hanoi

The capital city is now at a low-level risk of a another COVID-19 outbreak according to the Prime Minister's Directive 19, said Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Ngo Van Quy at the briefing of the city’s Steering Committee for COVID-19 prevention and control.
In response to the newly-detected cases, the authorities of Hanoi have proposed seven urgent missions, including quickly tracking down those who had contacts with the two infected and suspected cases, listing all people who returned from 20 epidemic areas as notified by the Ministry of Health. These people should take self-quarantine at home and get PCR tested. Meanwhile, all people in the city should implement disease prevention measures advised by the Ministry of Health.
Quy added that the city has ordered to stop religious, sporting and cultural activities as well as major events. Gatherings of more than 30 people are prohibited. Offices and workplaces should take preventive measures. Virtual meetings are encouraged and measures must be taken for in-person meetings.
Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung said that the suspension of all fairs, festivals and bars in the city follows the Prime Minister's conclusion at the Government’s Standing Committee on prevention and control of COVID-19 from the evening of July 29.
