Of the newly-detected cases, 111 cases were uncovered in quarantine and lockdown areas, said the MoH in its 12.00am COVID-19 update
Bac Giang, the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot, took lead with 69 cases, followed by Ho Chi Minh City (29), Bac Ninh (15), Ha Tinh (3), Lang Son (1) and Hanoi (1).
Experts say the outbreaks in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh have been brought under control, and new cases have been documented in quarantine areas.
Meanwhile, the outbreak in Ho Chi Minh City remains complicated, as new chains of transmission have been detected with unknown sources of infection.
The fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic which started in late April has attacked 40 cities and provinces across the country, with 7,786 cases confirmed.
Overall, Vietnam has logged a total of 10,999 cases, both locally transmitted and imported infections, since the SARS – CoV - 2 virus emerged in January 2020.
Sixty-one COVID-19 deaths have been reported, including 26 cases during the latest outbreak.
More than 4,200 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease.
