Con Temple Festival recognized as national intangible cultural heritage
After the opening ceremony, there were many outdoor activities organized on February 17th within the framework of the Con Temple Festival such as fishing ceremony, ancestor worship ceremony, and boat racing tournament on the Mai Giang river.
Con Temple is located on Diec hummock, next to the Mai river, Quynh Phuong commune. It was built in the 13th century but reconstructed on a large scale under the Le dynasty, and restored several times under the Nguyen dynasty.
According to the national historical records and local tales, Con Temple is to commemorate 2 talented kings under the Tran and Le dynasties, namely Tran Anh Tong and Le Thanh Tong, for their victories again foreign invaders, successfully protecting national sovereignty. Con Temple is also famous for its geographic feature, landscape, scientific and cultural values and architecture.
