PSNews – The Da Nang Tourism Association in collaboration with the Southern Institute of Ecology on July 15 organized a scientific conference on the conservation and sustainable development of the Son Tra peninsula’s natural ecosystem with the participation of more than 150 leading scientists and representatives of relevant agencies.

The conference offered great opportunities for competent agencies, relevant organizations and conservationists to work on hot topics about the Son Tra peninsula such as “Trade off environmental value or seek for possibilities”, “Exploit the advantages or preserve the integrity”; thereby to discuss on information and scientific bases on the environmental limit and approaches to balance the conservation and development in the Son Tra peninsula.

After several discussions, conference participants agreed to develop the Son Tra national tourism site in a rational manner. Particularly, priorities will be given to eco-tourism, nature-based sports, high-quality resorts and spiritual culture tourism in line with bio-diversity conservation, environmental protection, natural preservation and defense.

The conference’s results will be summarized in a letter of proposal and be sent to relevant agencies at the Government level and Da Nang authorities as bases for a revision of the Master plan to develop the Son Tra national tourism site.
