Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son chairs meeting on anti-pandemic measures

Deputy Minister of Public Security, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son chaired an online meeting with relevant under-ministerial agencies and provincial-level police departments on anti-pandemic measures as COVID-19 cases surge in localities.

The event saw the presence of Major General Le Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Chief of the Provisional COVID-19 Command of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) in Ho Chi Minh City.

Directive 16 of the Prime Minister on COVID-19 prevention and fighting has been applied in the 19 Southern provinces and cities, including Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Can Tho, Tay Ninh, after these localities saw a surge in COVID-19 infection cases in recent weeks.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung said inspections at COVID-19 checkpoints in HCMC, Dong Nai and Binh Duong showed that the police forces in theses localities faced various difficulties as the forces had to work hard.

The Deputy Minister asked leaders of the police forces in the loclalities to advise the provincial/municipal Party Committees and authorities to deploy more forces to support the police forces at the COVID checkpoints.

The police departments of the 19 pandemic-hit provinces and cities should take resolute measures to ensure security and order, especially in quarantined areas, coordinate with relevant forces to prevent and handle acts of speculation and hoarding of goods, stop the spread of infection in industrial parks, export processing zones and worker’s hostels.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son agreed with Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung’s instructions, emphasizing that the pandemic has seen complicated developments, and the police forces in the pandemic-hit localities have played their leading role in prevention and combat of the disease.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son highly appreciated the efforts of the police forces in these provinces and cities.

He asked the police departments to closely follow situations related to the pandemic and strictly implement directions by the Government and the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Combat, the Health Ministry, and ensure security and order amid the pandemic.
