37 million VND per month - highest compensation for fishermen

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on September 29 issued a Decision on compensation for damage caused by Formosa to people in four central provinces. Accordingly, compensation will be provided for seven groups of local people that specialized in fishing, fishery logistics and services business, salt production, aquaculture, and restaurant and hotel trading.

Owners of non-powered fishing vessels will receive the compensation of VND5.83 million/vessel/ month.
Each hectare of salt will be compensated 39.9 million/month. Salt worker losing income will receive 2.91 million/month.
Pursuant to this norm, the Provincial People's Committees of four central provinces will establish the list of affected to submit to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Finance before October 5.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will examine and determine the compensation expenses and submit to the Prime Minister for decision before October 10.
The amount of compensation for affected will be calculated starting from April and up to 6 months.
Funding sources are using from $500 million compensation paid by Formosa in August.
