Formosa makes environmental protection commitment as putting blast furnace into operation
At the meeting, Colonel Le Van Sao briefed the security and order situation in the area, especially the work of ensuring security and order one year after the occurrence of the marine environmental incident.
Particularly, the Ha Tinh Provincial Police has been maintaining security and order in Vung Ang as well as in the whole province in order to develop local socio-economy. The coordination between Formosa Company and functional forces in ensuring security and order has been strengthened and carried out in a more effective manner than before.
In order to ensure security and order along with protecting environment before the operation of blast furnace No.1, the Director of the Ha Tinh Provincial Police asked Formosa to put officials, workers and construction contractors inside Formosa under sound management. The company also has to get to grasp employees’ thoughts and aspiration along with requiring workers to commit to not participating in any protests, which disrupt local security and order.
Contractors have to pay their workers on time, prevent any situations that may develop into strikes, review plans to ensure security and order, strengthen entry and exit control.
At the meeting, representatives of Formosa Company reported the plan to ensure security and environmental protection when the blast furnace is operated. The company also extended their warmest thanks for the help and collaboration of functional units, the police force, and border guards in ensuring security and order over the past time.
Prior to the kick-start of blast furnace No.1’s operation, the company committed to deploying their security and environmental protection plan and pledged to upgrade its environmental protection categories.
