Officers of the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department under the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the Drug Crime Investigation Department under the Ministry of Public Security and relevant agencies checked the parcels after finding suspicion.
The drugs, scientifically known as MDMA, were placed inside electronic loudspeakers, cardboard boxes and toy boxes.According to the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, the senders stated fake addresses in the part of the recipients. Even if the real addresses were real, they were apartment blocks with hundreds houses or coffee shops. With this trick, the smugglers will be able to deny their involvement when authorised agencies discover.
The case is being further investigated.
Earlier in late 2017, the city’s Customs Department seized around 1.4 kilogrammes of drugs in four cases.
On June 13, a parcel with methamphetamine inside transported from the Netherlands to Vietnam was discovered.
On April 20, the agencies also seized about 9.35 kilogrammes of methamphetamine when checking a parcel from Belgium to Vietnam via EMS. It was the largest amount of drugs smuggled into Hanoi by this service.
