PSNews – The Hanoi People's Committee has approved a pilot project called IParking, which allows people to use their smart phones to search car parking slots on roads of Hoan Kiem district and to pay parking fees.
Accordingly, the Hanoi People's Committee assigned MTV company to run the IParking project in Ly Thuong Kiet and Tran Hung Dao streets from May 1st to August 1st.
Meanwhile, CIS Company is responsible for providing all software solutions during the pilot period.
According to specialists, drivers with smart phones installed in free IParking applications will be reported on the parking time and parking fee as well as pay the parking fee via e-banking, in the first phase of the project. Other services, such as checking the status of parking slots or making a parking reservation will be added later.
The municipal People's Committee also assigned the two companies to carefully study experiences in rating parking fees on roads in other countries to work out appropriate parking fees in Hanoi’s streets. The Municipal Department of Finance and Hanoi Tax Department will then scrutinize the proposed rates before submitting them to the Municipal People's Committee for approval.
