Accordingly, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment under the Ministry of Health has sent an urgent dispatch, requiring all provincial and municipal health departments and hospitals to well screen and classify, and timely detect patients contracting whooping cough, especially children in the northern provinces in the first line of reception.

According to the Ministry of Health, from the beginning of 2017, cases of whooping cough have been reported in Hanoi, Cao Bang, Nam Dinh, Nghe An, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Phu Tho, and Ha Nam provinces.
Particularly, 21 people were found infected with whooping cough in Hanoi and one of them has died.
