JICA Vice Chair Ejima holds talks with HCM City

JICA Vice Chair Shinya Ejima held talks on November 18 with the Municipal People’s Committee in Ho Chi Minh City regarding the best way to proceed in financing and implementing infrastructure projects.
The meeting began with Mr Ejima talking about JICA's past assistance to the City.

In response, Nguyen Thanh Phong, chair of the Committee expressed gratitude for JICA's efforts and specifically mentioned collaboration in water projects and the metro lines 3A and 3B as specific positive examples.

Mr Phong said the JICA has played an important role in helping the City maintain economic stability and improve its infrastructure, which is critical to developing a sustainable industrial base.

He expressed his appreciation for the assistance and said he has the utmost of respect for Japanese culture and national characteristics. Because Vietnamese and Japanese cultures are highly compatible it is easy for the two sides to share and learn from each other’s experiences.

Mr Phong emphasized that in the field of education and its traditions, the Committee would like to expand Japanese-style education in the City.

In conclusion, Mr Ejima said the JICA would like to continuously support efforts toward the economic development of the City as well as education of its youth and looks forward to providing further technical and financial assistance for many years to come.
