PSNews – Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Nghia on December 25 signed and dispatched an official document to the local departments of Education and Training, requiring them to scrutinize competitions for high school students.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training is conducting a comprehensive review on the current situation of the competitions, which are held for teachers and students.

The review aims to eliminate the ineffective exams, which impose pressure on teachers, students and schools, badly affect teaching and learning activities, and caused anxieties and worries to teachers, students, parents and society as a whole.

In the dispatch, the Ministry of Education and Training asked its local departments to clarify both advantages and disadvantages of the current competitions and exams, and to find out the difficulties that teachers and students face while participating in such competitions. The local departments are also asked to propose ideas and suggestions on the organization of competitions and exams in the future.

Earlier, the Ministry of Education and Training had sent a dispatch to the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, requesting a halt in organizing the “Chinh Phuc Vu Mon” competition, following parents’ negative feedbacks about its inappropriate contents.

All provincial-level education and training departments should submit their reports to the Ministry of Education and Training by December 26.
