PS force find the stolen Buddha statue
On October 8th, Hung Yen province public security forces confirm that the precious Guishan Guanyin of the thousand hands and eyes statue at Me So temple, Van Giang district, Hung Yen province was found.
According to the investigation teams, the statue was discovered nearby the field next to highway 5B (Tan Tien commune, Van Giang district, Hung Yen province) with the knuckles being disassembled.
Earlier, on September 29th, thieves had broke into the temple and took away the statue. This is the ancient statues with 1,113 hands and 1,113 eyes. Its height is 2.8 meter and made by jack-fruit woods. The height from vertex to pedestal is 140 cm, the pedestal height is 53cm and the lotus height is 23cm. This statue, according to professor Tran Lam Bien, is one of 10 most valuable Guishan Guanyin of the thousand hands and eyes statues in Vietnam.
Some predict that the thieves left the statue because they did not know how to sell it. This is the 2nd time the statue was lost and found again. Earlier, in 1988, the statue had been stolen and was found by public security forces.
After the statue was stolen, Chief of Hung Yen public security division has directed Van Giang district public security force in coordination with Hung Yen police to quickly found the thieves, return the statue as soon as possible.
Hung Yen public security forces are now investigating to clarify the perpetrator.
