Vietnam – China experts discuss Belt and Road Initiative

PSNews - More than 100 economists and experts in international cooperation, businessmen and journalists from Vietnam and China attended the workshop “Belt and Road Initiative: A new opportunity for Vietnam-China cooperation” on August 25 hosted by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam.

Addressing the event, Doctor Le Hai Binh, Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam affirmed that China is currently a leading trade partner of Vietnam. On the contrary, Vietnam is also one of China’s leading partners in the “Belt and Road” initiative.

Doctor Le Hai Binh said, this initiative would provide cooperation opportunities for Vietnam to develop infrastructure as well as other areas.
Within the framework of the workshop, speakers discussed various views on the context and factual situation of the “One belt, One road” initiative, focusing on financial challenges, project feasibility, development gap between countries and security threats.

The workshop’s delegates agreed that the “Belt and Road” is a long-term initiative and should be further promoted in the future. But the implementation of the project should be on the basis of solidarity, cooperation, friendship, equality and mutual benefits while other criteria for sustainability, effectiveness and inclusiveness should also be taken into canculation.
