Several of Russia’s globally-rated universities conducted a fact-finding tour of Vietnam from September 25-30 to seek enrolments, student exchange programmes, and connections with local partners, the Russian Science and Culture Centre in Vietnam announced at a press conference on September 30.

The universities included the Far Eastern Federal University, the Saint-Petersburg State University of Economics, and Belgorod State University.

The tour was the sixth phase of the ‘Russian Universities’ project, which aims to introduce Russian universities to Vietnamese students who wish to study in Russia.

The ‘Russian Universities’ programme focuses on enhancing bilateral co-operation in science and education, and stimulate Russia-Vietnam projects and links for mutual benefits between educational institutions and scientific research institutes of both countries.

It also aims to establish and develop direct links between universities of both countries and encourage young Vietnamese people to study in Russia, while maintaining contact with ex-students of Russian schools and universities.

A number of memoranda of understandings of co-operation between the two sides have been signed, including those to facilitate the exchange of students and lecturers, improve the capacity for schools’ staff, and carry out joint scientific researches.
