Vietnam, Sweden share journalism experiences and skills

PSNews - The Embassy of Sweden in cooperation with the Ministry of Information and Communications and Lund University held a media workshop on journalism experiences and skills on December 5-6 in Hanoi.

The workshop themed “Modern Journalism and Communication Skills in the 21st century: Sharing Experiences between Sweden and Vietnam” aims to provide journalism skills needed by journalists working at major Vietnamese press agencies.

This event was seen as continuation of the modern journalism education cooperation program between the two countries conducted over the past 10 years.

Speaking at the event, Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam Peredic Hogberg said the press law has made a significant contribution to Sweden in national development by creating prerequisite legal premise for the Swedish to access information.

He hopes the workshop will provide useful journalism skills in the age of digital technologies for reporters and editors working at press agencies of Vietnam, as well as young people interested in the field of journalism and communications.

At the workshop, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao highlighted Sweden as one of the most active supporters for the Vietnamese press and media sector over the past years. He thanked Sweden for its great support in training thousands of Vietnamese journalists through courses in Vietnam and Sweden.

The Deputy Minister of Information and Communications also emphasized the need to develop the multimedia press agency model in the current context.

At the workshop, experts and senior journalists of both countries shared experiences in journalistic activities in each country. They also discussed how press and media agencies could contribute significantly to socio-economic development.
