The smuggled goods were included on the list of species threatened with extinction issued by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
The container was sent to the Thien Truong Su Company in Nghe An Province. At the time of inspection, the company failed to provide legal documents to specify the origin and description of the shipment.
The case is under further investigation. In 2015, eight tonnes of ivory, rhino horns and pangolin scales were found in five containers at Tien Sa Port.
