Vietnamese cargo ship hit by unknown vessel, 9 missing

Speaking to the Public Security Newspaper, Deputy Director of the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region 3 Luong Truong Phi said the center has sent 2 surveillance ships to search the missing crew and the identity of the hit-and-run ship.
The center force has so far found and rescued two sailors.

According to the two rescued sailors, their ship was hit by an unknown vessel at around 0.00am on 28 March while carrying 3,000 tons of clinker on its way from the northern city of Hai Phong to the destination designate, Can Tho city.
The two sailors said that their 9 teammates may still be trapped inside the cargo ship.
Earlier on March 28, the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region 3 was informed that the Hai Thanh 26 BLC ship sank about 43 nautical miles east of Vung Tau city, at 10 degrees 18.9 minutes north latitude; 107 degrees 45.6 minutes east longitude.
