Vietnamese students earn value medals at international olympiad contests 2021

Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) on July 24 announced that all six Vietnamese students have won a gold, two silver and three bronze medals at the 62nd International Mathematical Olympiad virtually held by Russia on July 19-20 in an online format.
Accordingly, Do Bach Khoa, a 12th grader majoring in mathematics at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, secured the only gold medal for Vietnam. Khoa scored 35/42 points, making him in the top 10 best students of the contest.

Two silver medals went to two 12th graders of Hanoi, while three bronze medals were won by 12th and 11th graders of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Vinh Phuc.
With this achievements, Vietnam finished 14th out of 107 countries and territories participating in the contest, up three notches compared to last year’s event. Vietnam also topped Southeast Asia in this year’s contest. Last year, six Vietnamese students bagged home a gold, two silver, and three bronze medals.
Regarding the 2021 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), five Vietnamese students have won three gold and two silvers virtually hosted by Lithuania.

Three gold medals went to Nguyen Manh Quan and Tran Quang Vinh, both from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, and Trang Dao Cong Minh from High School for the Gifted of University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University in Hanoi).
Two other silver medals were awarded to two students from High Schools for the Gifted in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces.
Winning three gold and two silver medals, Vietnam finished seventh trailing behind the Republic of Korea, China, Russia, the United States, Taiwan and Romania.

Earlier, four other Vietnamese students have won medals, including a gold, at the 2021 International Biology Olympiad (IBO) which was virtually held by Portugal.
The only gold medal for Vietnam was awarded to Dang Le Minh Khang, a 12th grader of Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted in Can Tho city. Two other 12th graders hailing from Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho won two silver medals, while a 11th grader of Phu Tho received a bronze medal.
This year’s competition, IBO Challenge II, was held by Portugal in an online format from July 18 to July 23, attracting 304 contestants from 76 countries and territories worldwide.
