Central coastal localities brace for super typhoon Rai

Central coastal localities have banned vessels from going offshore and sent signals to others still fishing out at sea to seek storm shelters to cope with the impending impact of super typhoon Rai.

The administration of Da Nang strictly prohibits vessels from setting sale to avoid the stormy conditions by safely anchoring at Tho Quang port.

The Border Guard Command of Quang Nam province informs all vessels to seek safe shelter, with six going fishing offshore docking at the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes.

Fishing boats from Phu Yen province moor off the coast of Song Tu Tay island in Truong Sa district of Khanh Hoa province nearby.

Binh Dinh province asks vessels going fishing offshore to quickly escape from the dangerous area.

At present, dozens of fishing vessels have been brought ashore in Khanh Hoa to escape Rai's danger areas.

All fishing vessels will be requested to cruise ashore or seek nearby storm shelters before Rai moves closer to the central coast slated for December 19.

Local authorities prepare to offer support, by giving necessities, providing fuel for fishing boats, as well as giving medical examinations and treatment to fishermen in emergency cases.
