Danang city takes lead in environmental protection performance
The Central city of Danang was ranked first among the 63 localities by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in Environmental Protection Performance Indicators (PEPI).
The Central city of Danang has topped the list of 63 provinces and cities nationwide in set of Environmental Protection Performance Indicators (PEPI) in 2021 with 79.82 points, announced the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on Jan.5.
The city was followed by the southern provinces of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Tra Vinh with 78.79 points and 77.52 points, respectively. The Central Highlands province of Dak Nong was at the bottom of the list with 51.3 points.
The set of indicators includes 27 component indexes, which are structured into two groups, including: evaluation of the implementation of environmental protection objectives and tasks; and assessing people's satisfaction with the quality of the living environment.
According to the city's Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Danang authorities has conducted various communications activities to mobilise resources to and call for engagement of the community in environmental protection.
In the 2021-2022 period, the city focused on four major tasks, namely preventing and controlling pollution, improving the environment and solving major problems, preserving biodiversity, and strengthening capacity and awareness on environmental protection.
