Entire society urged to join hands in combating human trafficking
In response to the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons and the National Day Against Human Trafficking (July 30th), the Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union and the Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee organized a ceremony to launch a campaign against trafficking in persons themed “No child is left behind in the fight against human trafficking”, on the morning of July 30th, in Lao Cai.
The ceremony was attended by Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Head of the Government’s Steering Committee 138, Member of the Party Central Committee and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women’s Union Ha Thi Nga, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee Dang Xuan Phong, and Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Head of the Government’s Steering Committee 138.
In recent years, the human trafficking situation in the world has been very complicated with increasingly sophisticated methods and tricks of offenders.
According to statistics provided by the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), police forces investigated and cleared 50 cases of human trafficking with 126 victims, of which 48 cases involved 121 children in , in the first 6 months of 2024.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the joint efforts of MPS, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union and the Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee in organizing the launching ceremony in response to the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons and the National Day Against Human Trafficking.
The Deputy Prime Minister underlined that, in the current context of extensive international integration, the effort to prevent and control trafficking in persons faces various challenges.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang requested ministries, branches, provinces and cities to attach great important to preventing and controlling human trafficking, and consider the work as a key continuous task, while promoting law dissemination as well as appropriately spreading role models and anti-human trafficking movements in all localities.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang also requested public security forces to detect signs of human trafficking early and prevent and resolutely fight cases of human trafficking from the grassroots, while promoting inter-sectoral coordination and international cooperation in combating human trafficking.
The Deputy Prime Minister also asked relevant units and agencies to review and complete the legal basis on human trafficking prevention and control, and actively provide support for human trafficking victims based on the victim-centralized principle.
The ceremony demonstrated the strong determination of the whole political system and concerted effort of people from all walks of life to fight human trafficking
