First Zero Plastic Waste Resort in Vietnam announced
PSNews - Quang Nam Province in September officially introduced the first Zero Plastic Waste Resort in Vietnam by utilising eco-friendly materials and completely eliminating plastic waste from the local environment, with no more single-use plastics being used on site.
At the announcement ceremony, Mr. Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association praised the great efforts of the entire city to develop zero-waste tourism. Hoi An has maintained its position as a leading destination in implementing environmental protection measures in the country.
He added that the association is actively implementing a project called "Reducing Plastic Waste in the Tourism Industry in Vietnam”, and will continue to apply the plastic-free hotel model across the country.
He then affirmed that being a plastic-free hotel is a concrete action taken by the business, with significance in spreading the message to the business community in the tourism industry not only in Hoi An but throughout the country, promoting sustainable tourism development in Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province, shared that after years of maintaining a sustainable development journey, the resort has made efforts to limit negative impacts with a specific focus on protecting the natural environment and creating sustainable value for the community.
As the first “Plastic-free hotel" model to be applied in the country, Hong added that the resort has contributed to spreading a message of environmental protection and sustainable tourism , as well as building a green brand for the Vietnamese tourism industry.
