France donates 1.4 million more doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Vietnam
France has presented Vietnam with approximately 1.4 million doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, raising the number of French-donated vaccine doses to more than 2 million.
About 400,000 doses were rolled out via bilateral diplomatic channels and nearly 1 million doses via the COVAX Facility.
The donation was the result of Vietnam’s vaccine diplomacy efforts and of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to France in November.
France is a pioneer in launching and implementing the COVAX Facility and has made strong commitments to contribute to this mechanism.
According the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, France has so far donated 67 million doses of vaccines to more than 45 countries through the COVAX Facility, becoming the second biggest donor after the United States.
