Hanoi begins COVID-19 vaccinations for teenagers

The capital city of Hanoi on November 23 launched a COVID-19 vaccination program for teenagers between the ages of 15 and 17.

Many students of Quang Trung and Phan Huy Chu High Schools (Dong Da district), arrived early at their schools for vaccination.

Quang Trung High School has organized 5 vaccination lines to ensure safe distance for students. Teachers guided students to line up, check the students’ information.

662 12-graded students were the first among some 2,000 students of the school to receive COVID vaccine shots. In the photo, the students had their health checked up prior to receiving their jab.

After the health screening test, the students went to the injection area. Nguyen Anh Thu, a 12 grader, felt delighted when she was on the vaccination list which meant she would more or less be protected from the virus.

Pfizer is currently the only vaccine used to inject children from12 to 18 years old.

Students received their COVID-19 jabs.

Parents waited for their children in the school yard.

After being jabbed, the students were required to be on the site for 30 minutes before going home.

Vaccination certificates were immediately handed to the vaccinated students.

At Phan Huy Chu High School, the vaccination lasted from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and about 888 students were expected to get vaccinated.

3 injection rooms have been installed to ensure safe distance among students. Two  rooms and a medical area were arranged to monitor newly vaccinated students. Anyone with abnormal reactions after being vaccinated would be handled by on-duty doctors.

Hoang Kim Ngan, a 10th grade student, said she was happy after being given the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
