Hanoi seeks solutions to prevent riverbank landslides
PSNews – The Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee has announced a state of emergency over landslides along the city’s riverbanks.
In particular, in Xuan Canh Commune, Dong Anh District, landslides occurred along 400 meters of the Duong river’s bank. Several locations of the Duong river’s bank in Gia Lam District also fell in.
Notably, the landslides have cracked the local roads and directly affected 35 households in Duong Ha Commune.
The Hanoi Municipal’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has been assigned to devise measures to halt the landslide situation, and the project’s estimated cost is 40 billion VND.
The emergency situation is also seen along the Xam Thi embankment in Ninh So Commune, Thuong Tin District while landslides posed high risks to 150 nearby households.
The Hanoi authority asked functional agencies to take urgent measures to address the landslide and minimize damage caused by landslides and other natural disasters.
Relevant agencies must closely monitor landslide developments along riverbanks and restrict travel through dangerous areas, and ensure safety for the city’s dyke system and lives of residents in landslide-prone areas.
