MoH receives 1.2 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine
The Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company (VNVC) handed over 1.2 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to the representative agency of the Health Ministry in Ho Chi Minh City on August 22, after 3 days of quality checking.
It was the ninth batch under the VNVC’s order of 30 million doses of vaccine with AstraZeneca signed in November 2020. This batch, which was delivered to Vietnam on August 19, following another shipment of 1,1 million doses, that had arrived in Vietnam a week earlier.
Since July 9, over 6.2 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine have been shipped to Vietnam via the VNVC, bringing the total number to about 7 million doses.
The VNVC pledged to cover all extra costs, worth some hundreds of billions VND, for transportation, preservation and hand-over.
Under the direction of the MoH, the Pasteur Institute is in charge of distributing these vaccines to Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and some southern provinces to vaccinate people.
To date, Vietnam has vaccinated 16.1 people, of whom 14.7 people have had the first shoots and 1.7 others have fully been vaccinated.
