Nearly 30 Vietnamese media professionals to attend modern journalism training course in India

PSNews - Sponsored by the Ministry Of External Affairs, Government of India, a two-week training course (from March 18-30) on modern journalism for Vietnamese journalists is a part of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme (ITEC), aiming to support Vietnamese reporters and editors with knowledge of modern journalism.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on March 18, General Director of Dr. Marri Chenna Reddy Institute of Human Resource Development (MCR HRD) Dr. Shashank Goel, who is also Secretary to the Government in the State of Telangana, stated that the training programme is based on the long-term friendly cooperation between the two Governments of Vietnam and India. According to Dr. Shashank Goel, the press which serves as a voice of the people, plays an important part in stabilizing a democratic society. Therefore, journalists should well perform their functions.

He stressed that the emergence of social media platforms (facebook, X, etc) had brought about a profound transformation in the world of media. And it is important that media professionals should uphold the principles of accuracy, impartiality, and ethical conduct in their pursuit of truth.

Dr. Shashank Goel also affirmed that Vietnam is a country with colorful cultural heritage, a fast-growing economy and strong global integration. In particular, Vietnam and India have many similarities in politics, society, and history, so he believes that this course will bring useful knowledge to Vietnamese journalists.

Dr. Madhavi Ravulapati, Course Manager said that the training programme, which will be lectured by famous Indian journalism experts, focuses on new types of journalism, modern journalism skills and content production for social media.

It is known that the Indian Embassy to Vietnam and the Indian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City have awarded scholarships to 26 Vietnamese journalists from press agencies across the country to attend this course in Telangana, India.
