Six newly-established special working groups of the Hanoi police department have been fining a number of cases violating COVID-19 prevention measures throughout the capital.

Each group consists of 15 members who will consecutively patrol through the streets of Hanoi in order to tighten COVID-19 prevention regulations.

This comes after the initial six special working groups were founded on August 16 as part of a plan by Hanoi’s authorities to deal with the increase in daily infection cases.

The group receives support from local police forces of Ha Dong district as they help to reduce traffic congestion, while residents have their documents checked to make sure they have the correct travel permits.

Approximately 10,965 vehicles are checked at 23 checkpoints throughout the capital between August 28 and August 29. Among them, 2,116 vehicles are not permitted to enter the capital due to violating pandemic control measures, whilst 13 cases are fined for going out without a valid reason.
