RoK’s naval training ships visit HCMC

 The Republic of Korea’s (RoK) helicopter training ship ROKS Hansando and fast combat support ship ROKS Daecheong anchored at Ho Chi Minh City’s (HCMC) port on September 14, beginning their four-day friendly visit to the city.

RoK’s naval officers and crew-members are expected to visit several agencies and units of the Vietnam Navy.

During their stay, 470 RoK’s naval officers and crew-members are expected to visit several agencies and units of the Vietnam Navy to exchange views on security and defense industrial cooperation and to seek measures to strengthen friendship between the two navies, join volleyball matches, and visit historical and cultural relic sites in the city.

Brigadier General Gang Dong Goo, the RoK delegation head, said that the Vietnam’s visit is a practical activity in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the two countries’ diplomatic ties and will contribute to promoting the bilateral friendship, peace, and prosperity of the two countries.

The RoK-made ROKS Hansando training ship has a full displacement of 4,500 tons. It is 142m in length, 18m in width and equipped with various modern equipment. The fast combat support ship ROKS Daecheong has a full displacement of 4,200 tons and tasks of providing fuel and food as well as performing rescue operations for combat forces at sea.

Following their Vietnam visit, the RoK ships will anchor at 10 ports of nine countries around the world, including Malaysia, India and Australia.
