Ward-level officials suspended from work for neglecting COVID prevention and control
Two top officials of Hai Cang ward, Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh, namely Secretary of the Party Committee Nguyen Van Nghi, and Chairman of People’s Committee Nguyen Quang Thanh, were suspended from their posts.
According to a decision made by the Party Committee of Quy Nhon City, the two men were suspended from work due to their irresponsibility and weakness in leading and conducting pandemic prevention and control work in the locality.
During the 15-day suspension, starting from September 13, they will have to review their leadership and responsibility in the local COVID-19 fight.
The two posts are temporarily taken over by Vice Secretary of the Party Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee Dinh Anh Tuan.
A COVID-19 outbreak had been detected in residential area No. 4, Hai Cang ward on September 13, and it was related to a truck driver from Song Cau town, Phu Yen.
5 out of the 7 members of the driver’s family were tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.
The authorities took 270 samples from people in the area where the driver lives and detected 12 infected cases.
