39th ASEAN Chiefs of Police Conference wraps up in Hanoi

During the three-day event, nearly 300 delegates from the 10 ASEAN members, 10 dialogue partners of ASEANAPOL and six observers joined 8 meetings to discuss approaches to promote regional cooperation in preventing and fighting crimes.

In rotation, the Cambodian Police Force will host the 40th ASEANAPOL Conference in 2020. Lieutenant General Tran Van Ve, Chief of the Police Investigation Authority under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Head of the Vietnamese delegation at the ASEANAPOL 39 presented the ASEANAPOL’s logo to Cambodian National Police Chief, General Neth Savoeun, and Head of the Cambodian delegation.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Lieutenant General Tran Van Ve said, as chair of ASEANAPOL 39, Vietnam’s police force has tried its best to enhance the effectiveness of the partnership, cooperation and coordination in crime prevention and fight among ASEANAPOL members as well as between ASEANAPOL and its dialogue partners and observers.

Vietnam hopes to receive further support and assistance from other ASEANAPOL members, dialogue partners and observers to reach the targets set at the ASEANAPOL 39, Lieutenant General Tran Van Ve stressed.
On behalf of the Vietnam’s police force, Lieutenant General Tran Van Ve sincerely thanked the heads of the participating delegations and other delegates for their participation in all the meetings of the Conference.
The Chief of the Police Investigation Authority under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam highly appreciated the valuable experience and ideas given during the conference by ASEANAPOL’s members and partners, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation among ASEANAPOL members and between ASEANAPOL with its partners, INTERPOL and other international organizations in preventing and fighting crimes in the region.

For his part, Cambodian National Police Chief, General Neth Savoeun, expressed his honor and pride to receive the ASEANAPOL’s Logo and to assume the ASEANAPOL Presidency in 2020. General Neth Savoeun emphasized that the 39th ASEANAPOL in Hanoi was a success with many fruitful results. This provided an opportunity for Cambodia to learn from Vietnam experience in preparation and organization so that Cambodia could successfully host the ASEANAPOL 40 Conference next year.
The Cambodian National Police Chief also pledged to work and coordinate closely with ASEAN member countries, dialogue partners and observers and successfully fulfill the ASEANAPOL 39 commitments and objectives, for a peaceful, stable and safe ASEAN.
