Congratulations for new President continue to flow in

Leaders of Cambodia, Australia and Mongolia have extended congratulations to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong on his election as State President.

In his congratulatory letter, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his belief that with the President’s tireless efforts and long-term vision, Vietnam will make more progress, towards national industrialisation and modernisation.
Hun Sen also noted his delight to work, together with President Trong, to deepen the sincere relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia, in the spirit of good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation, for the sake of their people, as well as for regional peace, stability and prosperity.Australia’s Governor-General Peter Cosgrove congratulated the Party chief on his election as President, and highlighted the time-honoured relationship between Vietnam and Australia.
The bilateral ties have been consolidated through people-to-people exchange, socio-economic cooperation as well as development cooperation, and the sharing of viewpoints on how to cope with regional and global challenges, he said.
Cosgrove said he believes that after Vietnam and Australia established the strategic partnership in March 2018, they will continue to stand side by side for a stable, open and prosperous region.
On this occasion, Mongolian President Khaltmaa Battulga also cabled a message of congratulations to Party General Secretary and President Trong.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was elected as State President for the 2016-2021 tenure during a plenum of the 14th National Assembly's sixth session on October 23.
After the results of the vote were announced, the new President had a swearing-in ceremony, vowing to stay absolutely loyal to the nation, people, and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and to exert every effort to complete all missions assigned by the Party, State, and people.
