Cyber-crime discussed at 85th INTERPOL General Assembly
PSNews - Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, delivered an important speech themed “Cooperation in cyber-crime control: Crucial requirements to ensure global security”.

The Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Public Security stressed developments of science and technology, especially in cyber areas, have facilitated people’s lives in various ways; however, they caused numerous challenges and difficulties for law enforcement agencies in crime control.

According to statistics, cyber-crimes caused a loss of about $158 billion and affected some 594 million people all over the world. The Vietnamese delegate emphasized that Vietnam has experienced complicated developments incyber-crimes as facts show that cyber-crimes increase year on year in terms of both numbers and losses.
Meanwhile, reports reveal that Vietnam saw over 38,000 cyber attacks in 2015, doubling the number of 2014, and the number is predicted to rise in the following years.

In response to the increasingly complicated situation of cyber-crimes, Mr. Vuong proposed methods to promote effective cooperation in controlling crimes of this kind.These include diversifying information exchange mechanisms and fastening coordination among state agencies or private sectors.
The Vietnamese Deputy Minister also emphasized the importance of international cooperation in combating cyber-crime, especially via the INTERPOL. The Vietnam Police is committed to bolster international cooperation in preventing and combating transnational crime in general and cyber-crime in particular, he affirmed.
