Foreigners can extend visas amid COVID-19 outbreak: spokesperson

Foreigners stranded in Vietnam can apply for visa extension at the Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security in line with regulations, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang has said.

All foreigners entering Vietnam as of March 8 must be subject to health declaration in an effort to halt the spread of the novel coronavirus

Hang made the affirmation at an online press briefing held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hanoi on March 26 in response to reporters’ question regarding visa extension for foreigners stranded in Vietnam due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Vietnam frequently shares information and stands ready to create favourable conditions for foreign representative agencies in the country to conduct citizen protection and address visa-related issues on the basis of ensuring requirements on disease prevention and control in accordance with domestic and international laws, she said.
