Indian President congratulates newly-elected President Nguyen Phu Trong

President of India Ram Nath Kovind has sent congratulatory messages to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong on his October 23 election as the State President of Vietnam for the remainder of the 2016-2021 tenure.

India immensely values its close friendship with Vietnam, Indian President Ram Nath Kovind writes in his letter.
"Our countries have common interests, profound responsibility and enormous opportunities to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region", President Ram Nath Kovind continues.
The President of India also expressed his hope that his visit to Vietnam in November, 2018 will further consolidate the political trust and deepen India-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to the benefit of the two peoples.
