Parliamentary group supporting APEC established at US House of Representatives
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, the Vietnamese Embassy to the U.S in collaboration with the National Centre for APEC and relevant units of the Congress held a meeting to introduce the Parliamentary group supporting APEC at US House of Representatives on October 3.
Thanking members of the US Congress, the National Centre for APEC and the business community for this idea, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Pham Quang Vinh affirmed the US Congress’s support for APEC and US-Asia relations.

APEC has become an important forum to accelerate regional economic development and cooperation, bringing great benefits for member economies, including the US, over the past two decades.
Ambassador Vinh stated that, the Vietnam - US relationship was deepened by the visit to the US by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in May. He also hoped that the upcoming visit to Vietnam by President Donald Trump will elevate bilateral relations to a new high level.

As the host of APEC 2017, Vietnam has been cooperating with other member economies to promote APEC’s development. Vietnam has so far organized more than 200 related meetings and reached significant outcomes.
Vietnam will exert utmost efforts to ensure the success of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in November, he emphasized.

The establishment of the for-APEC parliamentary group is an important endeavor of the US Congress to influence US policies, reinforce the country’s position, and promote economic-trade cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region
