Party leader sanguine about growing Vietnam-Laos solidarity

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong (R) greets Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly (NA) Sengnouane Xayalath.

Sengnouane Xayalath showed his elation at the special solidarity between the two countries and glowingly spoke of the great, timely and effective assistance Vietnam has given to Laos throughout history.

He briefed his host about recent activities of the Lao NA, particularly the outcomes of its fifth session, cooperation between the two legislative bodies, and the outcomes of the talks and working sessions with Vietnamese NA members.

He affirmed the Lao NA’s readiness to coordinate closely with its Vietnamese counterpart to effectively implement the agreements reached by leaders of the two Parties, countries and NAs.

For his part, Party leader Trong welcomed the Vietnam visit by the Lao NA delegation and extolled the two legislative agencies’ cooperation, asking them to step up sharing information and legislative experience in supervising and deciding important issues.

He underlined the need to monitor, direct and promote ministries, sectors and localities’ implementation of agreements between Vietnamese and Lao Parties, Governments, as well as cooperation programs between the two legislative bodies.
