Addressing the 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) in the 2020-2025 term, on December 25 in Hanoi, the PM underlined the crucial role played by the union in pooling the creativity of science and technology intellectuals both in Vietnam and abroad in advancing national science-technology and socio-economic development and maintaining national defence and security.

Agreeing with the orientations and goals adopted by VUSTA for the 2020-2025 period, the PM suggested it be more proactive in implementing Party guidelines on science and technology development, especially the Resolution from the 13th National Party Congress.

VUSTA needs to exert every effort to realise science and technology development goals, improve the quality of human resources, attract talent, promote innovation, and strongly promote the application of science and technology, especially the achievements of Industry 4.0, thus creating impetus for the country’s rapid and sustainable development, he said.

He expressed a hope that the union will be a reliable advisor of the Party and State, especially in encouraging the dedication of intellectuals.

Dr Phan Xuan Dung was elected new President of VUSTA at the gathering.

On the sidelines, PM Phuc visited booths introducing advanced technology products and materials at a science and technology exhibition.
